Materials:
Paper with which to make zines - for this short course we will focus on making simple one-page zines. You will need paper. 80-120gsm is a good weight-range; heavier papers are harder to fold once you’ve added collage materials. Think about the size; A3 or A2 sheets of paper give you bigger pages with which to work, whereas A4 or letter-size sheets enable you to make sweet, small zines. Think about the scale on which you’d like to work.
Scissors - dedicated paper scissors that are nice and sharp.
Glue - I use pritt stick but any good quality glue stick will work.
Papers for collage - found papers, envelopes, wrapping paper, food packaging, gift wrap, magazines, tissue paper, old books and maps, sewing patterns, paper bags, stickers and washi tape can all be used for collage. Store your paper treasures in document wallets.
(Optional) Craft knife, cutting mat and metal ruler - this gives you more options for fancy cutting methods.
(Optional) Collage books - books of images to cut out and collage can be a very joyful starting point - I love CanDace Johnson’s Make a Vision Board: A Manifesting Collage Book and Maria Rivans’ books.
(Optional) Rubber stamps, StaZon ink pads, marker pens, stickers and other decorative touches - collect all your decorating tools!

Your Instructor
Felix has been a practising artist for over twenty years and is an enabling, inspiring instructor. She has a PhD in soundart, several self-published creative books under her belt, and a long catalogue of commissioned works including projects delivered for Clore learning at TATE Modern; The Charles Dickens Museum; and Sonic Arts Network (now known as Sound & Music).
Felix is currently transitioning away from hand-knitting due to disability and injury, and is learning to find joy in other media - especially through the creative journaling she has pioneered here through her iconic KNITSONIK Bullet Journaling course and the supportive and creative Journal with me membership she runs.
Felix loves how creative play can deepen our appreciation for daily life, and bring us home to ourselves. In her classes you will smile, you will play, you will be warmly invited to experiment and find new layers of joy. Her approach is anti-perfectionist, inclusive and her classes are friendly and relaxed. Collage with me is an offshoot of her Journal with me membership. Members have been finding this medium so useful that the decision was made to open collage up to a broader audience. Welcome!
